TIPS

USEFUL टिप्स (TIPS )

  • Egg drops on floor  -  Put flour on it leave for 5 mins. and remove easily

  • Home made Paneer - Boil milk (1 litre). Add 2 teaspoons of vinegar / lemon juice / 1 bowl curd. Switch off gas. Then stir it for a minute or 2. Milk will curdle. Leave it for 2 minutes and then strain. if you want a cube like paneer piece then put this strained paneer in a piece of clean cloth and keep a heavy piece of utensil on it (eg. a roller, tawa)

  • Low cal home made Paneer - After taking out butter from curd which many of us do we get buttermilk / chaas / matha which we generally use for drinking /  making kadhi / or give it to our maid. You can make Low cal Paneer by putting the pan containing this buttermilk on gas stove for a few minutes. After a couple of minutes you will see it curdle. Just strain and use it.

  • Removing food smell in fridge - Pierce holes on the lid of a small plastic container and fill the container with baking soda....Now keep it in the refrigerator.....and see the food smell vanish.

  • Frozen lemon wedges - Place lemon wedges in a box in the freezer. When serving a drink put the wedges in the glass with the drink. It serves as an ice cube and a lemon twist.

  • Green Chutney -  While making dhaniya (coriander) / pudina chutney do NOT add salt. You will retain the green colour and freshness of chutney for about 10 days. When you want to use it take it out in a bowl and mix salt to it and serve.

  • Burning Chillies on your hand - If green chiilies  are hurting on your hand then sqeeze a lemon on your hand and rub.

  • Crying while cutting onions -  Do not cut the head of the onion first as it starts bleeding and you get tears in your eyes. Rather cut onion length wise, peel and then chop the way you want separating the head in the end.

  • Squeeze about half a lemon in paneer dishes. This way paneer will not turn hard on reheating.                                                                                                  ( by Paresh Das)
  • Hi all, in case your fridge smells, deodorise it by keeping a piece of bread on the fridge shelf.
